The Charles and Joy Staples South West Region Publications Fund was established in 1984 by a generous donation to The University of Western Australia by Charles and Joy Staples.
The purpose of the Staples Fund is to make the results of research on the South West of Western Australia widely available to assist the South West community.
The Fund also aims to help those in government and private organisations concerned with South West projects to appreciate the needs and possibilities of the region in the widest possible historical perspective.

It was important to Charles and Joy that the Fund would enable non-scholarly people to have access to scholarly works. At their heart they were educators and believed in the sharing of information. (Charlie Staples Jnr 2022)
