Children’s author, Cassy Polimeni, is bringing themes of conservation and species survival into primary classrooms this August.
Ella and the Amazing Frog Orchestra is the first instalment in a new 4-book junior fiction series from the University of Western Australia Publishing.
Young learners will have the chance to meet Cassy, a CBCA Notable Author, during a virtual excursion organised by Virtual Excursions Australia and DART Learning. While aimed at schools, libraries and home schools, anyone interested is encouraged to register for this free event.
“This is a new series for newly independent readers that not only has characters that they will resonate with – so many will recognise the anxiety and other emotions that come with moving house and starting a new school – but which also has an original storyline that offers new insight into a common curriculum focus.”
Barbara Braxton Teacher-Librarian
Held during Children’s Book Week on August 22nd at 10am (AEST), this timely event follows National Science Week (10-18 August) and will help young readers build awareness of the importance of frogs through an engaging story, including instructions for building their own frog pond in their backyard. There will be a chance to ask Cassy questions about writing, learn more about the series, and be introduced to a real live frog!
