UWA Publishing authors recognised in NAIDOC awards

UWA Publishing authors Alton Walley and Graham Akhurst have recently been recognised in NAIDOC awards. 

This year's NAIDOC week theme is "Keep the fire burning! Blak, Loud and Proud" which calls for a reclamation of narratives, and amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. Find out more via the NAIDOC website.

Alton Walley, the author of Norn and KaardaThe Dolphin and the Spearfisher, and Yonga and Waitch, was the runner up for the NAIDOC Perth Artist of the Year Award for his film work with Aboriginal Productions. Find out more here.

Graham Akhurst is a finalist for the National NAIDOC Awards in the Creative Talent category for his contributions to First Nations Literature and his debut novel Borderland. Watch Graham's promotional video for NAIDOC. The winners will be announced at the National NAIDOC Week Awards Ceremony on Saturday 6 July 2024 in Tarndanya (Adelaide) on Kaurna Yerta (Country).
