Ena Noël Award Raelke Grimmer White Noise

Ena Noël Award medal

Established in 1994, the biennial Ena Noël Award is awarded to Australian emerging writers and illustrators under the age of 35 who have had books published in the two years prior to the award closing date. Since 2024, the Australian branch of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) has awarded two awards: one to an author and one to an illustrator.

Congratulations to UWA Publishing author Raelke Grimmer who has won the award for her debut young adult novel White Noise. The winner for the illustrator award is Sami Bayly for The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Extinct Animals (Lothian). Previous winners include Markus Zusak, Will Kostakis, Gary Lonesborough, Sher Rill Ng, and Holden Sheppard.

Set in tropical Darwin, White Noise is an achingly true portrayal of girlhood, grief, and autism from the authentic and gripping voice of debut author Raelke Grimmer. Purchase your copy below.
