HERE&NOW17: New Photography
HERE&NOW17: New Photography centres on contemporary Western Australia artists working with, or at the margins of photography; and accompanies the exhibition on show until 8 July 2017.
HERE&NOW17: New Photography includes ambitious new work from six WA-based artists: Jacqueline Ball, Scott Burton, Lucy Griggs, Dan McCabe, Lydia Trethewey and Georgia Kaw.
The book includes installation views of the works and essays from Eleanor Ivory Weber, Dan Miller, Tom Penney, Emma Crott and Melinda Ried.
Crott is a PhD candidate and casual academic at UNSW Art & Design in Sydney. Her current research considers the political, ethical and aesthetic implications of photographic representations of war and conflict.
Melinda Reid is a writer, educator, and PhD candidate at UNSW Art & Design in Sydney.
Tom Penney is an artist, writer, lecturer and PhD candidate at RMIT University in Melbourne.
Eleanor Ivory Weber is a writer and curator. She is currently living in Brussels, BE and Sydney, Australia. As a writer, she works across multiple formats, including for periodicals frieze, Column and How To Sleep Faster, for exhibitions in written and spoken form, and as a contributor to books published in Australia and abroad.
Chelsea Hopper is an independent curator and writer. Her recent exhibitions include "I can see Russia from here", Tcb inc., “Here&Now17: New Photography”, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery; “9/11”, Moana Project Space, and “New Sincerity”, Moana Project Space.
