Hanifa Deen is a Melbourne based author of Pakistani-Muslim ancestry who was born in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
A third-generation Australian, she has served as Hearing Commissioner with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and was also a director on the Board of SBS for five years.
Specialising in narrative non-fiction, she has written three books including the best-selling Broken Bangles, which was short-listed for the WA Premier’s Book Award in 1998.
