Beth Spencer

Beth Spencer is a writer of poetry, short stories, novels and academic works. Her book of fiction, How to Conceive of a Girl, was published by Vintage/Random House in 1996 to widespread critical acclaim, and was runner-up for the Steel Rudd Award. Her book of poetry, Things in a Glass Box, was published in SCARP/Five Islands New Poets series in 1994 and excerpts were broadcast on ABC Radio National's Poetica.

Spencer has also published essays, newspaper articles, academic articles, and written and produced work for ABC Radio National. She won The Age Short Story Award, and has received several Australia Council for the Arts fellowships.
