UWA Publishing is pleased to announce its forthcoming titles for 2012.
Continuing to go from strength to strength, UWA Publishing’s 2012 list includes dynamic fiction, vivid art books, scrumptious cookbooks and pertinent non-fiction.
One of Western Australia’s favourite sons, Stephen Scourfield brings together three novellas in Unaccountable Hours (February), in which a talented luthier, an ethically stringent biologist and two soulmates born generations apart devote their time to their passions, beliefs and loves. In The Walls of Delhi (March), eminent storyteller Uday Prakash tells three stinging and comic tales about individuals struggling not to be left behind in fast-changing and urban India. The great Gallipoli novel arrives in Bruce Scates’ On Dangerous Ground; one of Australia’s leading war historians uses fact and fiction to recreate dramatic moments of the Gallipoli campaign and imagine modern-day political intrigue.
The explosive success of Theo & Co. in 2008 will be followed by Theo Kalogeracos’ second cookbook (title tbc) in September. Much-loved for his local pizza restaurants, Little Caesar’s, and for his effervescent charm, Theo continues his search for the perfect pizza all the way to America.
The art of Indigenous artists from the Ngaanyatjarra Lands is stunningly displayed in Ngaanyatjarra: Art of the Lands (March), revealing the worlds within worlds of Ngaanyatjarra culture, and capturing the elegant complexity of desert life. One of Western Australia’s most influential and globally represented modernist artists, the life and work of Guy Grey-Smith (August) will be told in an elegant volume containing images of his artworks.
In 10 Years That Shook the World (February), internationally esteemed economist Loretta Napoleoni tells the tumultuous story of our world since 2001 in unique ‘tweet’-sized bites, prompting us to reflect on how changes in technology, politics, economics, and the environment in the last decade have affected our lives.
UWA Publishing has established an eBook program that allows readers to access almost every new release in both digital and physical form. In 2012, UWAP eBooks will be available from: Amazon Kindle, Apple iBookstore, Books for Cooks, Google eBookstore, Readings and Kobo.
