Wesley (Wes) Olson was born in Perth in 1960. He joined the Western Australian Government Railways in 1977 and is currently employed as a locomotive driver with Pacific National.
A lifelong interest in firearms and military history led to eight years’ service in the Army Reserve, and resulted in the publication of his first book, Bitter Victory—the death of HMAS Sydney, in 2000. He is now researching and writing the history of the 2/11th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force.
Wes and his wife Dale are active members of the Army Museum of Western Australia Foundation. They have three children: James, Caitlin and Claire.
